Halton Sensory Services have specialist staff experienced in supporting people that have sight or hearing loss. The service is a partnership between Vision Support and Deafness Resource Centre, supported by Halton Borough Council to provide the following services:

A team of skilled and experienced staff will provide information on all aspects of sensory loss and support you to live independently
Training
We offer:
Deaf Advocacy
Specialist one-to-one support for Deaf or hard of hearing people to deal with issues impacting on their lives. This service facilitates informed decision making.
Children and Family Team
A range of specialist services are available to families and children who are living with Deafness.
Equipment to Support Independence
Providing equipment designed to support people with hearing and vision loss live more independently in their homes, at work or on the move. Qualified staff assess individual needs and provide information and advice on the type of equipment available to meet those needs. Some of the equipment is available FREE on a long term loan basis and advice is provided on a full range available to buy.
What Type of Equipment Is Available to Me?
There are different kinds of equipment available, dependent on your personal needs.
For Sight Loss: Visual Aids such as Talking Watches, talking clocks and low vision aids.
For Hearing Loss: Flashing Doorbells to alert you to visitors, or Loop Systems to help you hear conversations or the television, special smoke alarms and more.

Social & Recreation Opportunities
There are a number of social groups running to reduce the isolation of people with sensory loss.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation Officers enable people with a vision impairment to become independent in their daily lives. Ongoing advice and support, including welfare rights advice, is provided by Rehabilitation Assistants who visit service users in their home.
